Caila Lene, APC

Child and Family Therapist

Play Therapy Professional

she/her/hers

As a child and family therapist, I specialize in supporting children ages 3–10 and their caregivers as they navigate mental health challenges, behavioral concerns, emotional dysregulation, self-esteem issues, and social skill development.

My work is grounded in Child-Centered Play Therapy, a developmentally appropriate, evidence-based approach that helps children express themselves, process experiences, and build coping skills through the natural language of play. I believe that every child has an inner wisdom, and with the right environment, they can grow, heal, and thrive.

In addition to working directly with children, I’m passionate about empowering caregivers. Through Parent Coaching using the Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT) model, I help caregivers build stronger, more connected relationships with their children. Together, we focus on increasing emotional intelligence, creating collaborative communication, setting age-appropriate boundaries, and using encouragement to promote a child's confidence and sense of capability.

Families often come to me feeling overwhelmed by power struggles, miscommunication, or emotional outbursts. My role is to create a safe, non-judgmental space for both children and caregivers to feel seen, heard, and supported as they develop healthier ways of connecting.

Whether your child is struggling with big feelings, difficult behaviors, or challenges related to autism or peer relationships, I’m here to help your family move toward greater harmony, resilience, and joy.

Caila enjoys listening to books, house restoration projects, and going on nature scavenger hunts with her family.

Appointment Investments

Caila provides a free one-hour intake for the parent (no child present) to ensure we are a good fit. She is not in-network with insurance companies but accepts PPO insurance as an out-of-network provider. That means you pay your therapist directly after each session, and then she provides you with a receipt for services (called a superbill) that you can submit to your insurance at the end of every month. If your claim is accepted, your insurance will mail you a check for the amount they agree to reimburse or apply that amount to your deductible, depending on whether you have yet hit your deductible for the year. She values the privacy of our clients and has chosen not to participate in insurance panels. In doing this, she is not required to provide diagnostic codes that could affect children’s future opportunities.
